The Morning Market

I took my bike to the morning market at 6am today. There is a LOT more activity early in the day! Everybody buying what they need to eat or for offerings. That same pothole was here in 2011!

Indonesians eat a lot of their food fried (goreng)...tofu, tempeh, bananas, pineapples, everything!

At the morning market, Hindus buy the makings for the offerings that they make three times a day. These are stacks of the little trays, made with palm fronds, in which the offerings are placed....flowers, candy, cigarettes, crackers, anything!

A flower vendor selling offering materials.

The market has a wide variety of merchandise. Here are some treats!

There are vegetables galore, all freshly picked this morning. No one at the market speaks English. We point and use other hand signals. The vendors tell me the price of my purchase by displaying the appropriate money.

Chickens are for sale with their 'best parts'.
I think I saw the one on the right in a chicken truck yesterday...it has a finger not unlike my middle finger!

Everything is so fresh and so beautiful.
